Chiropractic Care for Total Body Health

The first known chiropractic services were provided in 1895 by Daniel David Palmer, a practitioner of alternative medicine. What started as a misunderstood field of medicine has now become a well-known service that people regularly seek out to help them alleviate their aches and pains. According to Dr. Van Der Veer of, chiropractors use a variety of hands-on techniques to manipulate parts of the body’s musculoskeletal structure to allow the body to heal naturally.

The human body is a fascinating amalgamation of bones, muscles, tissues, and joints that requires maintaining a delicate balance to function at 100%. Everyday life causes smalls tweaks and changes to the musculoskeletal structure that can cause aches and pains to develop. For instance, sleeping in a funny position could lead to neck tightness on one-side. If that occurs, the body will attempt to compensate for it, which may over-stress the muscles of the opposite side of the body. As you can see, once the balance is thrown off, the body is unable to perform at optimal levels.

A more drastic example is a car accident. Crashing into another vehicle at a high rate of speed jerks the body forward. As the driver smashes into the air bag, multiples parts of the upper chest, back, and neck shift can position, potentially leading to pain. However, simply getting medicine from a hospital isn’t enough to heal. A chiropractic adjustment would be beneficial as a means of realigning the body’s spine and vertebrae to a natural position that promotes faster healing.
