Just some musings others may have experienced

Ok, so DCM diagnosis came 5 years ago when went into V-tach. I have a bivent pacer with ICD, on amiodarone, lisinopril, and metoprolol. Sunday, was doing some yard work and couldn't catch my breath. Went inside and laid down felt better yet, with mild to moderate activity have to stop and catch my breath. Called Dr. who did a BNP, numbers were good, he said watch the salt and fluids, and reconsider working 12 hour shifts. My concerns: getting winded still, and looking for a job with 8 hour shifts. Thanks all

HI THERE, personally, I love 12 hour shifts and would do anything to keep them....that is if there was any way I could tolerate it physically. If your BNP is OK, you are probably fine, and it was a matter of fluids and/ or being out in the heat. You did not mention a diuretic in your list of meds. You should be weighing yourself each morning, and reporting a weight gain of over 2 lbs in one day or 5 lbs in a week. You should be eating no more than 2000 mg of sodium a day, 1400mg is better. I get these "spells" too, and they seem to go away on their own. Sometimes my heart rate is fast when it happens, and I find that drinking a glass of ice water helps. I hope you feel better.
