Turkey Day
Sue
posted by Sue on Friday, November 27, 2009 at 16:37

Sooo, we had a turkey crisis, long story, the fryer broke, and ended up with just the baked ham, which, of course, I cannot eat......but we had an oyster (and clam)shucking contest on the doc, and I ate salt free blacked peas from whole foods ....I never thought I would see the day when I could not eat another oyster.....I will end up making a turkey this weekend. I hope everyone had a great day.

Sry about the turkey, glad you didn't lose any fingers , shucking the oysters . I fixed the dinner , with all the trimmings , and my daughter got into the left overs during the nite , No stuffing , the pie is nearly gone , She hates me for fixing it , and thinks she must have been sleepwalking . A Fan,
Jim

We had a similar problem. Our son did the cooking at our house. The turkey was stuffed with various vegetables. Looked and smelled great. I used my thermometer to check but when we cut into it, the meat near the bone was too pink and oozing. Kind of killed the appetite. The veggies were off limits too. Ate some yams, cranberry sauce and rolls. Big whoop. And his girlfriend, sweet as she is, doesn't talk much. Hard to get to know her that way.

I bloated up like a whale last night. Also wondering if I have a hernia near the belly button. It swells up and down and hurts like crazy. It's been there since the ovary surgery almost 2 years ago. If it's not one thing, it's another.

Wish I knew how to post a picture onto the message. Is there a way or just use the avatar spot?

you could have a surgical hernia.....from the bruises I saw, that could be possible.....although I thought that was a band aid operation with little incision.....I know what you mean about the quiet types....I always have a lot of fun messing with them. :)

We had a mashed potato crises, someone I'm married to dropped the bowl on our tile floor 1/2 hour before guests arrived. I took the high road and fired up the truck, hit the local market and paid a fortune for garlic mashed potatoes, and came home to find the neighbors cleaning up the mess while my wife found new clothes to wear. Tears turned to laughs, but it was high drama for awhile. We had a wonderful gathering of family and friends.

Oh Bruce - I'm sorry that happened. I know how she feels. When I was working at the school cooking for 200 little kids, I pulled out a tray of mashed potatoes from the warming unit. Lost control of it and splattered potatoes all over the floor. Fortunately we had more trays made up and they were just the instant kind. I was able to make more pretty quickly. But what a mess. At least it wasn't a major dish like lasagne.

and then there was the time I was collecting a 24 hour urine....which has to be on ice, and at end of the 24th hour, I spilled the jug. 'splain THAT. "No sense in crying over spilled urine" didn't cut it. LOL.
