pacer check
Sue

Yes, it was that time again, because my battery is getting low. I raised the point that I really did not think it was necessary to check it every month, just to see that my battery is near the replacement level, since it costs me $78 out of pocket every time. Sooo....I got permission to go until Jan. unless I beep. He reset the beep time to 9am. I am at 2.64...it beeps at 2.62. I had one charge up that was not delivered in the last month ( because it was overrided)....I have to have a long run of rapid rhythm for it to charge a shock.....I wonder where that energy goes? I mean how is it dispersed?...I would imagine that would use a lot of battery power. Ho hum.

I wonder if it was just charging to be on standby....and then it slowly levels off. Maybe it had nothing to do with a rapid rhythm after all, and I made a wrong connection. Anyway, it took almost 11 seconds to charge. Now I am a bit confused....it's all moot anyway.

I can see the scenario already....I will start beeping sometimes in Dec....possibly around the time of my eye surgery ( lens implant).....then it will be Christmas, they will tell me I have 3 months and they are swamped, not to worry....then I will go on my New Years cruise to St Maarten etc and I will be beeping all the way. FUN!

I go up on Dec 2 to see where I stand for replacement. I just ask that the beep NOT sound like a darn garbage truck backing up.

LOL....so funny. That is exactly what it sounds like. I do not think they can change it to "Yankee Doodle" very easily. You can ask for me. They already think I'm nutsy.

If I were a programmer in a pacer company, I'd slip in a program to make the signal sound like a nice big fart, effective one day after my retirement.

NW, I give thanks that you are not a pacer company programer. Too funny.

OK. On the road to Jacksonville. I have a wonderful head and sinus cold. Congested, coughy and really not too interested in all the tests scheduled for Wednesday. The fasting blood will be easy because I have no appetite. Oh well.

no H1N1. Mostly sinus. Actually that is finally passing. Bad news though. Even though I feel pretty good, my EF is dropped to 25%. (from echocardiograph reading) How in the world did THAT happen. I REFUSE to let it stop me though. I will say that as soon as the girls said they got the numbers they needed on the cardiopulmonary stress test I said I was going to stop. They questioned me if I could go longer. I told them of course I could if I really wanted to but that it was time to stop. They were a little twerked at me, but I did not feel like torturing myself to make them happy. The tech asked the nurse what reason to put that I stopped. I told her to put that I was being bitchy. Fact.

Hi, Brat. Lousy news! But you feel pretty good, and that is the main thing. Did they say what could have caused this drop in your EF? Did they change any meds after this finding? Do you have the same pacer as I do, that checks your fluid retention too? Is that OK? Are your lungs clear? Do you think the cold could have caused a temporary drop? This is just one more reason to angry with this disease and kick butt. When do they want you back? PS.....I got very bitchy during my stress test too....they even said I will not need another one....ever. ( But then again, I never need any lab work either, since my blood work 7 years ago was normal...LOL) I lasted 90 seconds during my stress test. They said I must spend a lot of time just sittin' around watching TV....I said "Yeah, and eating potato chips" Was the physician present for your stress test? Hang in there!

The ICD shows more incidents, on Halloween it was about constant. Hate to admit it, but I did not even notice it. I know I was pretty active that day. I remember thinking the heat was making me feel bad, not my heart. My fluids are good. My bloodwork was great. I did go 9 minutes on the stress test. I thought that was enough. The Nurse Practicioner in charge of Cardiac Transplant was with me in the room. She is pretty neat and knows how I can be, well, bitchy. Going back in January. Going to see a couple other doctors. Too many years of the good times rolling has my gastro erupting. My pulmonary functions are poor. But I am a tough old bird that has too much life left to have fun with, so it IS kick the sickness time.
