Anyone ever had TOO MUCH lasix. My uncle who has severe CHF was told to take 100mg at one time in the evening even while acting as though he was dehydrated (not a lot of urine output, not very focused , dry mouth, etc.) This seems way off the charts to me. His weight had been a few pounds up.

I have little knowledge in this field , but was 'upped' to 160 mg. in pm . Bad headaches , dry mouth , 'tinkle ' leaks , . Went to 80 mg. in am and 80 mg. pm. this helped , but even w/ endema , and water retension very bad . I was not getting enough water to keep my system cleaned out and flushing poisens from meds out . He needs to look at streching out the dosage , and monitor his water intake .I wish him luck , I am still fighting the battle . and am now down to 40 mg am and 40 mg pm .
My 16 yr, old daughter wants my cardio dr's, car , and my cardio dr. wants my heart , ' for historical documentation 'If he goes first Jenny gets his car , If I go first , he gets my heart , I do not believe I am going to win either way.

With severe CHF it is not unusual to give over 200mg of lasix. Lasix is the kind of drug that works best when taken all at one time instead 2 doses, but many people find that by evening time they are retaining fluid and have trouble sleeping due to shortness of breath, so doctors suggest an AM and PM dose. I myself find that 100mg works best in the AM, and 50mg does not work half as well....it just doesnt work at all. But I have a high tolerance to Lasix. I hope he is doing better by now. Keep us posted. Sue
